I was born in the depths of a creative family, I grew up eating, sleeping and breathing art. I picked up drumming and singing from my father and dancing and business from my mother. I have been dancing professionally since the age of five .I have been traveling all over the Pacific Northwest displaying West African culture and dance.
After many years of African dance exposure, I then branched off into other dance styles at the age of 6 where I trained in jazz, tap and hip hop. My focused dance styles are West African and hip hop dance. I have had the opportunity to be apart of many companies such as:
ADEFUA( 30 years)
KUTT 'N' Up ENT (19 years)
Kouyate Arts (8 years )
Nu Black Arts West
Broadway Bound
KODE RED Dance team (EWU ( 5 years)
LADII ENTOURAJ
Gansango Dance and Music ( 10 years)
Djeliyah Band
I have also created my own dance company by the name of MYND KUNTROL( 9 years). I have a very unique style of choreography that I produce to encourage young women to stay true to ourselves through the troubles of life.
I have been given many opportunities to teach in a variety of places such as weekly ADEFUA community classes, Alvin Ailey Camp 2023,Seattle Center (Festival Sundiata and Folklife festival),Cleveland High School Dance team (2016,2018,&2019 Bubbling Brown Sugar winners),school demonstrations, professional development seminars, Community engagements and etc.
I have had the joy of spending many years of my life developing teaching skills: Child and adult education in African drum & dance, and Hip hop.
Along with dance, I am a phenomenal free spirited entrepreneur. To start that bridge of life, I attend Eastern Washington University to receive my Bachelors of Arts in Children's Studies, with minors in Africana Studies and Sociology .To connect these two passions of mine, I have created business by the name of Gloria's Heart. Gloria's Heart is devoted to youth programming and development through desired art forms. GHL specializes in giving youth artists opportunities to exhibit and teach dance from their perspective. Young artists opportunities are on a lower spectrum of availability, I strive to give more working opportunities to youth so that their work is properly appreciated.
March 2023, I had the idea to rebrand my company into a collective. A company where stakeholders can be a part of the collective work of educating and promoting cultural arts in efforts to unite, because it is very important. Glorias Hearts LLC is now name ONi Arts Collective, LLC.
I have an amazing gift for working with underserved populations and youth. With my love of music and dance along with my love for helping others, I plan to merge them together to create beautiful experiences that change lives.
I hope that you join us on this new journey as we aspire to inspire!
